PSG
through a 7,000 sq. foot "gently used furniture" re-sale store
provides a three module curriculum for trainees to gain knowledge, skill,
and experience to re-enter the workforce. Trainees learn "hard
skills" like computer use, inventory, development/ maintenance,
pricing, furniture display, cleaning, customer service, cash register,
workforce expectations, appearance expectations, work ethics, etc.
They also learn "soft skills" like communications, boundaries,
assertiveness training, problem solving, decision making, self esteem,
risk taking, value clarification, etc. Additionally, they learn how
to create a resume, job search skills and job interviewing
technique. It is our hope that by providing a long term solution
thru education and training, individuals will be more likely to become
self sufficient and independent in the future. All monies generated
from the store are re-invested into Phoenix Shanti Group services being
provided to those with HIV/AIDS and "at risk" community.
